In the summer of 2005 Elles sont passées par ici - HERE NOR THERE made possible an encounter that could not be more concrete between the daily life of a village, its inhabitants, and works of contemporary art. Seven female artists living in the United Kingdom had descended upon the village and created a defined circuit in ten locations. Passing by the shop windows, for a month and a half, the way to the shops was thus punctuated by inquiries where contemporary art asked its question, which came echoing back from the majority of the population: why?

Visitors paced the streets as if on a treasure hunt, sometimes losing themselves in their suppositions... Each person tried to provide answers. 'It gets people talking, it's funny to see people glued to the shop window like at the Museum of Berlin... It makes a change from the humdrum.'
